Chef Sal graduated from the New York Food and Hotel Management School in a part of New York City known as SOHO in 1989. Sal’s love of cooking comes from his Italian mother who “made the gravy” and showed all of her love in her cooking. Sal has worked in four star restaurants, neighborhood pizzerias, local delis, and large catering companies. Sal’s experience and family led him to Alaska in 1994 where he worked at local restaurants briefly before beginning his very successful catering business which is now based out of Platinum Jaxx in downtown Anchorage.
Sal is the father of two children, ten and six years old, and has a wife, Nicki, who is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and currently works part time for the VA, in addition to helping with duties at Sal’s New York Grill.
Sal has catered multi-day conferences, large conventions, corporate luncheons, and both large and small weddings. Sal’s professionalism and passion for cooking is reflected in every event he prepares whether it is for 25 people or 1000 people. We hope you enjoy the event that you book with Sal’s New York Grill, and we look forward to meeting you!
